Timothy Mtambo a leader of stomach politics

Did Timothy Mtambo leave the Human Rights Defenders Coalition to avoid having blood of Malawains on his hands or is he on the oppositions payroll?

Former leader of the HRDC on Wednesday, 1 April 2020 Timothy Mtambo announced his resignation from the HRDC. The career activist said he would be putting his energy in his new political movement and has asked God for counsel.

In the press conference Mtambo endorsed the Malawi Congress Party and the UTM alliance, saying he believes in their leadership. Malawians believe that he is on the payroll of the opposition parties as he lacks consistency in his politics some even called him a man who is not genuine in his activism and a chancer.

Could the formation of the CFT be Mtambo playing politics of the stomach while luring clueless hungry Malawians to join his new movement by promising to give back power to the people?

“The CFT is a revolutionary movement borne out of my love for Malawi and the need to see Malawi’s total transformation through the people themselves. The uniqueness is that it seeks transformation by the people, of the people and for the people,” said Mtambo.

“Fellow Malawians, time has come to step forward to demand for change. Our country will not move forward if we think this fight is for few people. Each Malawian has to rise up so that violation of human rights should stop ", he said during the press conference however Mtambo has been at forefront of violating human rights. While he was the leader of the HRDC, the organization under his stewardship filed a petition calling for the Malawian lockdown to be revoked.

On 17 April a Malawian High Court temporarily barred the government from implementing the 21 - day because of the HRDC's petition. Mtambo left the HRDC while he was part of the people who planned the mass murder of Malawians that could happen if lockdown is not implemented soon.

Over the past year, Mtambo has been leading massive demonstrations, as Chairperson of HRDC, aimed at disturbing peace in Malawi. On 16 April he led informal vendors on a protest to stop the lockdown, looting streets of Lilongwe.

He was also leader of the Centre for Human Rights Rehabilitation (CHRR). Malawians are also asking when he will leave the CFT to start another organization as he lacks consistency.

However in these trying times filled with chancers Malawians are confident in President Mutharika administration. Some are singing his praises saying they will be voting for the most progressive party in Malawi, the Democratic Progressive Party in the next elections.
