The Lagos dream Episode 2
The door just fell from the bus I am riding to Oshodi! In short, there is no healthy bus in all of Lagos. Its like these buses have been in use since lagos was created, thank God for BRT though the work wasn't fully accomplished we can say healthy buses are here.
Today my people, I want to talk to you about Food, GOOD FOOD! I don't know what do do again, a lot of mama put joints around town are almost the same. Small rice, with pepper as stew that is very like meat. I bought it one morning and at first glance I couldn't differentiate between the meat and the stew, very small and they put them separately at one corner.
My country people I don taya, una even dey enjoy this lagos life, na only weekend you fit cook food keep because no time on normal week days, all the time is spent on traffic.
I pity myself and those passing through Oshodi and Ikeja along both morning and night, that region is always ice blocked bumper to bumper. We hope that the train project will soon be over, we can't just wait to enjoy our easy life on that road.
With that said, I realize my only complaints for Lagos are the buses and traffic but this is not true. Another harsh life this economy has created for its citizens is the unavailability of corporate jobs but the over-availability of menial jobs if there is anything like that.
Just like in a romantic relationship, people just want to use people, no job is constant you can easily be fired or even be provoked to quit on your own due to the inhumane way you are treated. That's not how life used to be, before people multiplied over these lands called Nigeria we used to be happier, jobs will wait for graduates even at the university but now no one wants to look at your C.V everywhere is even overstaffed and the average Nigerian worker is idle and hungry.
The government is not even empowered to help themselves, they borrow billions in dollars yearly talkless of the masses, abeg I am in Lagos and looking for Job. I am willing to work with my brain, skills and intelligence just like other abled Nigerians that are out there.
There are those who have hidden their certifiicates and humbled themselves for little jobs hoping the future would be brighter like every new day that comes after the night, hut they are still waiting. We are still waiting.
Lagos is the state we think we can make it, like in our old time nollywood movies when a main character says he is going ''to the city'' we all know this means Lagos.
This means the Nigerian mentality created a Lagos dream that is not even working like it should be and now the musicians are not helping us. They keep singing songs that can't help the poor, sorry o, I mean the people whose money has not shown yet in their account but they know its on the way. No one wants to be poor in Nigeria.l, we know we have to work to make that money yet you hear songs like '' I can't kill myself '' and we take in the idea, that we should just relax and let it all play out.
Kolewerk! We must work, but more importantly we need people to give jobs. I am not asking government to provide jobs, I am asking you rich men, stop been stingy, stop putting your monies in the bank, build industries that will decrease foreign imports, that will put your fellow man busy instead of him thinking to rob you.
The people who built America were not called the government instead they were philanthropists who started economy building industries, stop creating more banks that will steal our money or insurance companies, create jobs, we are willing to work, if you are short on ideas to build please create a talent hunt to select the best ideas, ejor, biko, let us build ourselves first before we face the problems of this country.
So, before we close this episode leave a comment about your worst road/bus experience in Lagos, or any other region of Nigeria or the world.
