Nigerians have been asked to stay at home, stay at home! But the question is: what of those that get their daily bread from daily sales? I am sure Nigeria officials has never thought of that.
Take a look at most of these countries like UK that are paying 80% wages to workers that are not working... Most of these countries know what it takes to work from home and still make a living out of it. They are more modernized than Nigeria.
Most Nigerians that make a living by going out everyday to sell their goods, what does government want them to do in such a situation. As government says everybody should stay at home; pls are they staying at home to eat their properties or what.
These people while they stay indoors, what are they expected to be doing from there homes. Funny enough they are humans and so needs food for survival. Nature calls and nature's call is the call everyone must answer whether you are poor or rich it does not determine; it only matters towards the way you respond to this call.( nature's call in tells need to eat, pee, all natural occurances)
The poor masses have their means of feeding of which most of them feed with the little income they make daily.; when these income is terminated, what do you think happens to these people.
One of the response I got when I spoke to one of them was: " If Una government close market, na die be dat oh!" This is so disheartening, for someone that has full life in him to make such a statement.
This issue is not something to be overlooked. Take for instance, some people find it so difficult to feed themselves and family talk of buying hand sanitizers, face mask and all of it. When you meet people like this and explain to them the need for staying safe as prevention is better than cure, there reply will most at times throw you off balance.
Replies could be that they barely feed these days and someone is telling them the need to get hand sanitizers and face mask to stay safe. Some will even reject it if you give to them as they think that is the least of their problems.
Now, persons that sell these things are not helping matters at all. They tend to rise the price of these items as soon as the demand gets high. Yes, in terms of business, they tend to make profile but then they are forgetting one thing; human sympathy to the poor masses. Hand glooves sold for #1000 now is sold at #2500, face mask...mmmh if you are able to see it first ,thank God ,then take of the price.
I sincerely urge government to look into this matter before it gets out of hand in as much they and everyone is fighting Coronavirus, this is important too.
