Sergio Agüero, Manchester City's all-time leading scorer, is set to retire from football on Wednesday owing to a heart issue, six months after joining Barcelona on a free transfer.
During the first half of Barcelona's 1-1 draw with Alavés on October 30, the 33-year-old had chest and breathing troubles. Agüero collapsed to the ground holding his chest at the Camp Nou and was treated for many minutes before being allowed to walk away. He was sent to the hospital for cardiological examinations, and the club announced that he will be sidelined for three months while undergoing a "diagnostic and therapeutic process."

With 184 goals in 275 games, Aguero is the fourth-highest striker in Premier League history and Manchester City's all-time leading scorer. Aguero joined City from Atletico Madrid in 2011 and has already won five Premier League championships, one FA Cup, and six League Cups in his time there.
Aguero scored 41 goals in 101 appearances for Argentina, appearing in three FIFA World Cups and helping the country win the Copa America earlier this year. Meanwhile, Barcelona, the player's agent, and a close friend of Aguero have remained tight-lipped about his decision to retire.
