Due to the alarming impact of teenage pregnancy, Commission on Population and Development (POPCOM) raised its alarm to warn everyone about the growing number of early parenthood. What is the matter of teenage pregnancy in the nature of love? Many involve themselves to fornication just to feel the delicious moment of sex to be a medicine of loneliness when they starve for pleasure coming from ones company. Some just when contraceptive peals fails to support them to counter act early pregnancy would just accept marriage as a forcing consequence. Lust is part of our nature as individual person that in our being human, we are still animals bounded by desire which is lust. Lust does not only mean realities pertaining to sexual life but it is our attitude when we possess something out of cravings. In some cases, marriage was just a consequence of surprising pregnancy if the contraception or any means to impede pregnancy when someone is not responsible enough because intercourse is used as a means for pleasure not for responsibility. However, what is love? Every human person has the capacity for love. Like lust, it is also part of the human nature that we have the tendency to care not for our own consumption but for the goodness of everyone. Love is a choice not something inclined to every desire that we have because it is something that enable us to be free. How can we see love in our society coming from the experiences and examples of our parents. Most good families are product of the realization of love coming from a responsible mother and father who prepared their relationship not for themselves but for the emergence of their children that will be cared and not be wasted. Love is a total self gift that it does not only mean entering in a romantic relationship. That many times when we utter "I love you", this should be only for the chosen boyfriend who courted and girlfriend who have just answered her suitor. Love is far from romance which is more emotional and desired for sexual motive. If we witness the charity foundations which are almost run by committed persons working not for themselves but for the sake of the poor community struggling because of hunger and thirst due to the lack of money and source of foods. Notice the missionary centers like those run by Mother Theresa of Calcutta whose aim is not for themselves but for ultimate goodness that will lead to the progress of the community. It was even said by Mother Theresa that for love to be real, it must hurt, it must cost, it must empty us of self. That being responsible means not thinking of the good things that can be possessed but what bounty that could be delivered to everyone. Here we say that the essential dimension of love is always commitment that our purpose is not for our own acquisition but for the better that we can share. If we love in order to be loved, we do love others but the object of our love is ourselves. Therefore if the object is ourselves, it is not love but lust. Love is present in every radical decisions we have in caring and offering ourselves to everyone whether what status we are in the society. In teaching the value of love to our children and young not to be fallen on the hell of lust, we must integrate to them the meaning of respect, friendship, responsibility, and the virtue of right time for every choices. Love is more than feelings and emotions. It is one's right intention to give his or her life to each who needs. That is why love is far from lust which many times destroy life because of the emerging selfishness. To love is always be to give ones spirit. For the young who is in the experiment of having a romantic relationship, Discover first the love from your parents, relatives and friends before dealing with any choices that may destroy your capacity for responsibility. We need to value healthy relationships coming from our parents, friends and relatives which are the source and fruit of love that we can give not that we can take or receive.
