A bridge in Abuja Collapsed and Residents can't Find their Way Home
On Tuesday 8th September 2020 around 5:00 pm, it rained heavily at Abuja. The rain stopped around 6:15 pm. During the heavy rainfall, a bridge in Dutse Abuja connecting Zone 4 and Sokale residents totally collapsed and capsized.
The bridge has been in a bad condition for a long time now, it has been some of the local residents that have been doing little patches on it. However, on 8th September 2020, there was a heavy rainfall that caused an overflowing flood that led to the collapse of the big bridge connecting Zone 4 and Sokale residents all in Dutse Abuja, Bwari Area Council.
Currently, residents that must pass through the bridge to their homes, especially those who are mobile are stranded looking for a way to get home.
The bridge also affected the pipe that supplies water to some residents in the said areas and the public tap where residents purchase drinking water on a subsidized amount. Though some good Samaritans have taken a move in fixing and reconnecting the pipe.
The Bwari Area Council of Abuja should come and look into this since the said areas are under Bwari Area Council. This bridge should be fixed quickly because a further delay will not only prevent residents from going home, it will also and will very soon affect the buildings close to and around the bridge.
