The existence of secret cult groups in traditional Nigerian society is not new, as there are traditional secret societies such as Ogboni, Ekpe. Okonko and so on, which were developmental oriented. Presently, the formation of cult groups by youths has caused many havocs in the society. The rate at which many Nigerian youths involve in cult related activities is alarming, as there are reports of incessant cult clashes in many places which has claimed lives and destroyed properties. There are many reasons that propel youths to join cult groups even though joining cult groups is like signing a death warrant. The government, law enforcement agencies, religious bodies and other relevant organisations should cooperate to fight cultism to a halt. This will ensure peace and harmony in the society.
